Healthy eating while traveling…
It is not as hard as you might think!
Most people think it is way too hard to eat healthy foods while traveling…. but we think differently! It just takes a little planning, and preparation and you can eat healthy (and cheap!) on the road!
Josh and I are so excited for the YL convention but of course we want to continue our healthy habits we have. The first this we do is pack our supplements. For us the easiest way is use small portion baggies and put 1-2 different supplements that are easy to tell apart in one bag. We count out how many pills we need for the length of the trip and through in a few extra just incase. Don’t forget to label your baggies! I put these in our hand-carry luggage.
We also pack Ningxia Red Packets and Nitro in gallon zip bags for protection, and place in our checked luggage. Any other liquid supplements also get placed in bags and or wrapped in something protective and placed in the checked luggage. Our extra oils (not the ones in my purse and zip bag for on the plane) also are in our checked luggage.
Having our NingXia and supplements make sure that if we don’t have the best food option, we get our vital nutrition in for the day!
Now to the food part! If you have access to a kitchen or mini fridge in your hotel or on your trip, PERFECT! You can pack your personal blender, YL Protein powders, and stop at a local grocery store or farmers market and cook meals or make shakes! While we were on our honeymoon, our cabin had a full kitchen which let us cook our own breakfast each morning and several lunches and dinners after a stop at the local grocery store.
If you do not have access to a kitchen or mini fridge where you are staying, no worries! You can still pack many different snacks or small meals. For us at convention, since we do have a mini fridge, we are getting some fresh groceries delivered and packing lots of health snacks or quick small meal grabs. Healthy beef and bison jerky are a must, along with almonds, macadamia and pili nuts, plantain chips, homemade granola, YL Protein Powder, and Slique and Lara Bars. Fresh fruits, Cheese, greek yogurt, organic lunch meat, and bottled water are in our fridge. Our hotel also has a Starbucks for a quick cup of coffee and hot fresh oatmeal!
To make the best choices while you are traveling, do some research on area restaurants! Nowadays almost every restaurant has their menu available online for you to look at. You can look ahead and make sure that the restaurant has options for you that meet your needs. Look for local smoothie places to grab a quick breakfast with a Slique Bar from YL. Find a local salad place and order a salad to go and add jerky and nuts to make it more filling. There are many options, just make informed choices!
