Authentic Manhood
In society these days the lines have been blurred on what manhood truly is. Fathers are leaving families at an alarming rate, men are just living with women instead of manning up and marring them, some men have weak backbones, and men are even losing sight of gender responsibility and reality. It has taken on odd forms and has begun to destroy the fabric of society and families. Manhood has nothing to with whether a man is outdoorsy or just likes being inside, it has nothing to do with whether or not a man hunts, knits, drives fast cars, is into art, is a gym buff or not so buff, or even really what age he is or what job he has. Manhoodgoes beyond the superficial it goes to the heart of who a man is. So what is true manhood?
Spiritual Mentor of the Home:
The man is the spiritual mentor of the home. He is the one who leads his family to be more like Christ. He sees his family as his first and most important missionary assignment, teaching his family the Word of God, and explaining the Gospel found within. He leads out on taking his family to church, doing mission work, and living out generosity. He leads out on what a true biblical husband and father are to be. He prays with his family daily. He loves and respects his wife, never laying a hand on her, but supports her.
Man of Character:
The man is a man of character. He lives out Christlikeness. He is a man of integrity, a man who means what he says. He is a man that is not flaky, he doesn’t say yes when he means no, or no when he means yes. He is a man of honesty. He is not easily swayed by an immoral society.
Man of Courage:
The man is courageous. He stands in the gap when necessary. He holds the line. He has the courage to stand up for what he believes in even if he has backlash. He fights for the ones he loves. He fights for God whom he worships.
It is time for men to rise up and cling to true manhood, for without it, families will continue to crumble and the respect for true biblical man will continue to decline. We as men have an opportunity to make a lasting difference in our families, communities, businesses and even in society as a whole. Blessings to each man reading this blog, I pray strength for your journey of living out true manhood.
